Why decking tiles could be the perfect option for your garden, balcony or roof terrace

Colourful garden furniture on hardwood non-slip decking tiles

You may have heard of decking tiles, but how are they different from decking boards? Well, not only are they great for small spaces – especially roof terraces and balconies – they are also quick and easy to install.

Perfect for small outdoor spaces

In towns and cities, space is at a premium. Urban gardens are often tiny and many flats and houses have roof terraces or small courtyard spaces. Their flexible design means decking tiles are much easier to use in small spaces and awkward areas.

Traditional decking requires a subframe, which is just too heavy for many balconies and roof terraces. Decking tiles are the perfect solution as they can be installed with no subframe, so are light enough for almost any space.

Quick and easy to install

Decking tiles are remarkably DIY friendly. Our recent video shows how quickly and easily a garden can be transformed using our anti-slip timber decking tiles. Where thresholds into a doorway are too low for a traditional decking subframe decking tiles are a great option. If you need any advice on installing just ask and we will be glad to help.

Practical for commercial projects

Since launching our first non-slip decking tiles last year, we have had a lot of interest from architects, landscapers and contractors working on commercial projects. In addition to the benefits I’ve already outlined, decking tiles can easily be lifted to get access to services underneath. This is a real plus for commercial projects.

Easy to Extend

We know that plans change and people sometimes want to extend their decking. With decking tiles this is much easier: you simply add to the tiles that are already there. Being much easier to move around, they are a good option if you like refresh your garden every few years.

Non-slip and durable

Gripsure decking tiles feature our innovative anti-slip treatment. This means they stay safe, even in wet or icy weather. Low maintenance, they offer up to 30 years in service life (for softwood tiles) and 50 years (for hardwoods). In other words, they give all the benefits of our traditional timber non-slip decking boards with the benefits of a tile.
