Magdalen College School

Magdalen College School was founded in 1480 by schoolmaster, Bishop of Winchester and Lord Chancellor of England, William Waynflete. For the past 100 years, staff and students have walked across two bridges, linking the school grounds to the playing field. The grade 2 listed bridges are also used by maintenance vehicles.

The Oxford school approached Gripsure® for a non slip solution to cover the bridges’ existing boards. With the bridges being used every day the school needed something durable with a high level of slip resistance for the boards.

Magdalen College School chose Gripsure Xtreme. The boards’ coarse 1mm-3mm aggregate means they are ideal for students crossing the bridges wearing studded sports boots.

Mr Minns the Maintenance and Contracts Manager at Magdalen College School said:

‘Since finding Gripsure we have been impressed with the service and quality of the product. We have two (Grade 2 Listed) bridges that became treacherous under foot during adverse weather.

Gripsure’s solution was both in keeping with the setting and thus far robust. We would certainly use them again.’

Gripsure Xtreme is made from MEDITE® TRICOYA® EXTREME, an extremely durable and stable product with a non slip Gripsure finish. The board is sustainably sourced, resistant to fungal decay and has an expected in-service life of 60 years.
