The Waterwheel Inn

Outdoor Decking Area

The Waterwheel Inn is a traditional country inn located in the village of St Austell, Cornwall, England. The inn features a restaurant, bar, and accommodation options, and is renowned for its warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The inn’s accommodation options include comfortable and well-appointed rooms, as well as a self-contained holiday cottage. The Waterwheel Inn is located near many popular tourist attractions, including the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan, and is a popular destination for visitors looking to experience the charm and hospitality of a traditional Cornish inn.

  • Because traditional timber decking can be dangerously slippery, we never imagined we would be able to use timber to achieve such a spectacular result.

At the Waterwheel Inn, Mark and Francesca Willis have transformed a wild and overgrown garden into a fantastic outdoor space. They have created a tranquil and safe environment for the guests of their B&B and restaurant to enjoy. The garden has decked walkways leading around ponds and a waterfall feature, surrounded by tropical plants and tree ferns. There is also a large decked terrace for guests to relax in.

Gripsure Classic was chosen for this project, to ensure safe use by guests all year round and in all weather conditions. Mark and Francesca have also added decked ramps around the building and garden to improve disabled access to the Inn. As the Garden sits in a shaded valley, Mark and Francesca initially thought timber decking was out of the question, until they discovered Gripsure.

Gripsure decking also made an impression on some of the guests at the Waterwheel Inn, as Mark and Francesca said: “We have had lots of positive feedback from guests – one even took a sample of the decking away with him!
