Non-slip decking from Gripsure
Over the seasons traditional timber decking can become lethal – slippery underfoot. With algae growth and wet weather decking becomes virtually unusable – dangerous to walk over. Innovative non-slip decking from Gripsure combines natural timber decking with hardened aggregate infills so that a stylish looking deck can still be achieved.
Softwood vs. Hardwood
Timber is a traditional natural product with a beautiful natural finish. At Gripsure we use sustainably sourced slow grown Vth grade Redwood (Pine) which is pressure treated for an expected in service life of 15 years. While softwood is the most common option for timber decking there are alternative timbers on the market. Gripsure also offer a range of Hardwoods. The main advantage of hardwood over softwood is its longevity. They are far more durable and hard wearing than softwood products, for example hardwoods such as Yellow Balau can be expected to last for up to 50 years, so consequently come at a larger cost.
Timber vs. Composite
An alternative option to Timber decking is composite. Composite decking has many different types of variable quality. Gripsure only offer Ecodek as a premium quality composite decking product, manufactured in the UK using hardwood beechwood and recycled HDPE (milk bottles!), providing a sustainable and durable product with a 25 year warranty. Other composite decking products - in particular imported hollowcore products are susceptible to swelling, and break-up. Gripsure always recommend a solid-board composite product, Made in Britain.
Gripsure are FSC® certified and use timber from sustainably managed forests. We use slow grown Vths grade Redwood which has fewer knotts. Gripsure are members of the Timber Decking and Cladding Association (TDCA) and we have had our products independantly review and have been awarded DeckMark and DeckMark Plus accreditation.
