The Hamblett's

If you live in one of the most beautiful parts of the UK, it’s only natural to want a garden where you can relax and enjoy the surroundings.

David Hamblett, who lives near the Roseland Peninsula in Cornwall, decided to make the most of his home’s outside space by installing a small area of Gripsure non-slip decking – right where the sun (usually) shines.

  • I’m not usually a big fan of timber decking because it can be very dangerous when it’s wet, but Gripsure is very safe to walk on. It works extremely well – especially here in Cornwall where we get a lot of rain!

David, a retired insurance broker, can now sit outdoors in a light, bright spot in his bungalow’s pretty back garden.

I’m very impressed with the quality,” said David, who had 130.2 linear metres of Gripsure’s Premier non-slip decking to replace some older, wooden decking. This grooved timber decking aids drainage and has an expected service life of between 15 and 20 years.

David has put a small table and chairs, plus a bench and even a covered seating area on the decking, which is slip resistant, durable and easy to keep clean.

The standard is excellent – it does what it says on the tin,” says David, who moved to Cornwall from Shropshire nine years ago. “The sun is on that side of the bungalow first thing and then it moves round and goes over the other side in the evening. I’m planning to install some more decking out at the front to create another seating area. Hopefully, it will be completed some time in October.

Local builder and carpenter Mal Carter of Carter Carpentry and Construction fitted David’s Gripsure decking. Like all Gripsure timber decking, the boards are crafted from FSC and PEFC certified timber, making it a sustainable and environmentally friendly choice.

The process to remove the existing wooden decking and replace it with Gripsure Premier took just over a week and was finished just in time for the spring and summer weather. David said he was pleased with the whole process and would recommend Gripsure to other homeowners. “It might seem a bit more expensive than other choices but the quality you get is really excellent,” he said. “It’s certainly worth it.
